Club IT Part One Club IT is a great new club that has just opened in the downtown area. Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada are the owners of club IT. Club IT was just renovated and the place looks great. The atmosphere caters to those that want to eat and dance or just kick back with people. Club IT is very big and has a nice bar and kitchen for finger foods. Club IT provides different kinds of music for their customers. During the week there is a DJ that plays anything from electronic to hip hop. On the weekends the club usually has live bands perform. Other clubs only offer a certain type of music for small crowds. Club IT is trying to target a diverse group of people including a more mature crowd. The owners are trying to accommodate different lifestyles with a variety of music and drinks. You can be single, married or in a group club IT will cater to it. Club IT is a great club that is lacking in the IT department. The owners would like me to join the team as an intern to help with what is needed. Club IT is presently using a intranet structure which is a network that only Rueben, Lisa and their employees can use. Most clubs use a similar structure and this structure works great for restaurants and clubs, but there needs to be some improvements to club IT system. It appears that all employees are using the same password and username. Everyone at club IT needs their own username and password. If everyone has their own system ID the owners can keep track of all employees transactions. This will save time just in case there is a situation that has to do with money or customer service issues. Club IT Part One 3. Employees and managers should each have a limit to how much information they have access to. The owners should have access to all employees and managers information and profile. As for employees they will only be able to see their own transactions. Shift managers can have access to all employees that are working a particular shift. This is going to give the owners a chance to see who is on point with their sales and other transactions such as punching in. A concern that I have with club IT is how to they are controlling their information. I think the owners need to be trained on information resources. If the owners are able to work closely with their IT, they will be able to keep track of inventory, sales and revenue. They will know what is needed in the club also know what products are not selling. So they can keep their own little IT department since club IT is a small business. I think that the way for club IT to have a successful business is by observing the needs of their customers. They need to identify which customers do what, for example on what nights do they make the most money or less money. They need to observe what drinks and appetizers sell the most and on what nights they sell. I think the best way to identify the clienteles that produces the most revenue for the club is by having a database that is linked to the guest list, alcohol and cash registers. This way the people who are on the guest list on a particular night will be registered at the door of the club before entering. This is a great way to see on what night which crowd is bringing in the most revenue. Club IT Part One 4. If the club can identify with each particular crowds ages and likes the club will be able to prepare the inventory that is needed for each evening. Instead of over spending on inventory and losing money on things that don’t sell. The club can provide discounts for regulars and offer buy backs for customers that buy four or more drinks. The database will have every customers information and this will keep all employees informed on who is who. The guest list that is linked to the database is going to be connected to the owners computers. I think to have a big IT department is works great for big businesses not for small places like club IT. It departments cost money to keep up. With the way businesses work today it is important to have some sort of IT department. Club IT will be successful if the learn about their customers through their database.
