With high expectations and strong determination, Ruben Keys and Lisa Tejada have brought a funky and down-to-earth club to the local community. The pair have created a striking atmosphere appealing to various clienteles and used their business administration degrees to plant a solid foundation for their future. To ensure long-term success of their venue, Ruben and Lisa have hired an information systems professional to provide them with a full analysis of their needs.
As stated on Club IT’s website, "We, Ruben and Lisa, offer you live music, DJ's, dance space and refreshments that suit your lifestyle. You are our friends, and we seek to build a community that meets regularly at Club IT.” The club’s appeals to the 21-30 age group who enjoy a casual environment with reasonably priced food and beverages as well as a variety of entertainment.
To ease the flow of communication between management and employees and to support the club’s mission, a variety of information management resources are available for use. The recommended resource would be Microsoft Vista or
Microsoft XP; excellent automation systems used for communication. An additional asset would be Microsoft Outlook to further mass communication between the owners and their 19 employees. Considering that the business may likely expand, Microsoft Outlook will accommodate the growing staff. Work schedules, policy updates, daily specials or menu changes, and security policies can all
An additional resource recommended would be a transaction processing system (TPS) that monitors the collection and processing of data or transactions within the establishment. Purchases made by customers can be recorded to generate future data vital to the operations of the club. All transactions made by management will be tracked in order to facilitate increasing production and advance the marketing structure of the club.
Since the vast majority of Club IT’s products are purchased online, the electronic commerce system is considerable. Transactions can be made on a business-to-business basis via Internet connection to reduce operational costs. Customers can use the business-to-consumer system to purchase the available memorabilia items the club offers.
In order for Club IT to maintain a competitive advantage and reduce chances of sinking in today’s economy, a strategic information system must be incorporated. Utilizing this system, management should focus on innovation to increase clientele base, build morale among employees, and ensure a steady flow of business. By incorporating the latest DJ equipment, light and sound effects, varying house drink and menu specials each week, installing an ATM with minimal fees, and focusing on DJ or clientele events, the innovation of the club will guarantee new clients as well as repeat and loyal customers.
By focusing on the innovation strategy of the club, Ruben and Lisa will be ensuring their competitive advantage by improving their differentiation and customer-orientation strategies as well. These strategies will appeal to the customers, emphasizing Ruben and Lisa’s customer focus on the owners as stated in their mission statement. Additionally, this will prove Club IT to be a place for everyone by attracting a variety of customers. Additionally with the use of the available information resources such as TPS and the electronic commerce system, Ruben and Lisa will be able to have more free time to expand their business and focus on customer needs; enabling a strong future for Club IT.
