Related Occupations I have always wanted to be an event planner, ever since I can remember. Really some people dream of getting married or having lots of money. Not me, I dream of becoming an event planner. It may be odd, but maybe I’m odd. I love to plan parties, organize, and decorate. As long as I have the desire, I can become an event planner. To be an event planner, someone must have excellent organization skills, the ability to plan projects and events, and the ability to think creatively. An event planner must be able to work well with people, they should be able to pitch in to get a job done. Event planners have a variety of duties depending on their specific title. Planners must have good communication skills and be able to work under pressure (Top Careers for Communications Graduates 115), all of these skills I know I have and will I know I can work hard to archive my dream. Since there are no courses in high school to really prepare a person. It would be a smart idea to take high school classes in business, English, and speech It also would be a good idea to take a foreign language or two (Top Careers for Communications Graduates 115), A persons creativity is what really can make or break them, so a couple of art classes would help as well. In post secondary training sometimes a person must have a four year degree to work for some places. They do offer classes in meeting planning but often you must have a major in English, communications, meeting, publications, sales, or travel would all be good fits for this career (Top Careers for Communications Graduates 115). An event planner’s salary can vary based on the indivual. Planning could rest around fifty dollars an hour or there could be a flat salary. It is estimated that planners can earn between fifty thousand and one hundred thousand a year (FabJob). The event planner job came to be when the meeting management profession was recognized as a career in the early nineteen nineties. Ad corporations have specialized and expanded their business to include facilities and employees worldwide, company meet logistics have become more complex, and have grown into the world of event planning (Top Careers for Communications Graduates 115). I’ll never have to worry about not being employed. Job opportunities for the event planning business will continue to grow at a faster than average rate, conventions, trade shows, meetings, and incentive travel support more than one point five million American jobs according to the professional convention management association (PCMA). These events account for more than eighty million in annual spending (PowerHomeBiz). The Working Environment for an event planner is sometimes rough but varies with the planner’s title and responsibilities. General planners can expect a lot more than a beginner. Planners must posse’s high energy and have the ability to think on there feet. The demands sometimes physically and mentally may be a lot to handle (PowerHomeBiz). The benefits of being an event planner are being able to have a little fun on the job. Many good event planners plan things like the Academy Awards, Mardi Gras, Super Bowls, Presidential Inauguration’s, and much more. The possibilities are endless (FabJob). The job opportunities seem endless in the event planner’s world but what if things went bad what would someone do then. The related occupations in this field seem endless too. This profession could and can take you anywhere and everywhere. Some things that are on the same field as event planning is country clubs, theme parks, hotels, cruise lines, caterers and much more, but with this profession you will never be unemployed for long (PowerHomeBiz). I have always wanted to be and event planner and I will be someday. My dreams will come true and I will make sure of it. Whether I plan the presidential inaugurations or just a simple wedding you know it will be fabulous. My dreams can take me any where and who knows where that will be. One things for sure that I truly will love every minute of it because I’m determined to have a job I love and I know I will love event planning.
