Student and Workshop Details
This document provides a high-level description of an information system. It includes 1) a general description and of the information system that documents the title, overall function, and the users of an information system and what they wish to do with the information system, 2) an external view of the information system including the inputs, outputs, boundary, and information processing and storage that the system performs, and 3) an internal view of the information system including the particular information processors, information stores, and any networks within the information system.

1. General Description of the Information System
Title
Student Admission Information System (SAIS)
General Description
A system that receives application forms and determines to approve student with their desired program of study.
The system stores applicant's personal detail, program of study, tuition fee receipts and student contracts, offer letters.
Users (or Other Information Systems) and User Functions
Applicants: apply for a courses of study. Provide application form and make payments as inputs and receive application form results as outputs.
Applicant banks: transfer applicant's tuition fee as an input and send produce receipts as outputs.
Administration Department: provide signed student contracts, offer letters as outputs.

Inputs
Applicants: payments, application forms including applicant's academic transcript and personal details.
Applicant banks: Electronic files with applicant bank detail and amounts of tuition fee transfer.
Outputs
Applicants: results of application form.
Applicant banks: tuition payment receipts.
Administration Department: student contracts, offer letters.
Information Processing
SAIS checks applications from to make decision of approving or not. This is based on applicant's academic transcripts matching with university's requirements.

Information Processors
Application form Processor: human checking application forms based on applicant's academic background an deciding whether to approve or not.
SAIS: + send approved applicant information to Administration Department
+ automates the process of approved student admission in the desired program of study and registers them in the first semester course of the
program.
Information Stores
Application form database: personal details (name, age, address, academic and family background), desired program of study.
Application form approval filing cabinet: offer letters, student contracts.
Networks
Connection with applicant banks via internet.
Ethernet: application form processor, SAIS.

There are significant benefits as applying SAIS to Curtin University. This system is an automatic stage which helps arrange approved applicants into desired program for the first semester. By doing this way, registration clerk reduces opportunities to miss out approved applicants information when submit it to administration department. The specific benefits of this system includes:
Receive application from students according to their qualifications.
Produce ranklist according to the collected data in variuous departments.
Separate rank list for each departments and reserved categories.
Edit or Remove an application
show whole rank list and reserved rank lists.
Admission of students according to rank list
Separate admission for reserved students.
Automatically calculate the remaining seats in each department and reservation group.
