Brainstorming Technique is one of the best for facilitating collaborations, among others, but brainstorming is the most popular. Solving problems effectively requires an appropriate mindset, viewing as opportunities or challenges and looking for solutions (Thompson, 1999).
.The concept is to develop as many ideas as possible. Write down the first thing that comes to mind without internal editing. Then organize all the ideas, sort through and pick out the best ones. Then do a second sorting until you come up with just the right solution or idea. It is very important to prioritize steps following brainstorming, so as not to get to stress out.
Nominal Technique is a highly structured meeting agenda that allows everyone to contribute in a relatively equal manner and without having that contribution interrupted by evaluative comments from others. (McShane & Von Glinow, 2000). The nominal technique usually involves four steps: They are:
1. Participants work alone, they in turn respond in writing with a possible solution.
2. Each member reads his or her idea aloud in a round- robin fashion without any criticism.
3. The ideas on the list are now discussed and clarified as to their meanings, but with no evaluation comments.
4. Members then rank-order the ideas in order of importance, which is done by individual secret ballot.
Delphi Technique is a written survey method for gathering opinions without holding
meetings. This technique administers a questionnaire and selects a group to respond, usually experts. The deadline is set for the questionnaire returned, then the group can evaluation their options. The best use for the Delphi technique is “for complex issues and questions that require much thoughtful considerations” (DeWine, 2001, p. 180).
Synectics Technique is a formalized technique for group process design that helps groups tackle different problems creatively. It asks group members to use analogies to break their existing patterns of thinking and to develop analogies regarding particular concepts in order to see another aspect of a problem (Gordon, 1961).
Buzz Sessions is a small group of participants create to discuss a specific problem or question
