An Interview with Hitler
Interviewer: Good afternoon Adolf, can you spare a few minutes for a quick interview'
Hitler: Sure, go ahead, as long as it’s quick, but then again I’m not really doing anything.
Interviewer: Now, where to start' You’ve been in jail for quite a while now, how are your parents coping'
Hitler: I have no parents. Let’s see, my mother’s dead, and as for my father, I’d rather not talk about him.
Interviewer: Sorry to seem nosy, but if you can talk about your early life, I can have the media on your side, and people will feel empathetic for you, meaning you will have more supporters.
Hitler: If I have to. Where would you like me to start'
Interviewer: I’ve heard that you are defined by your teenage years, so why don’t you start there'
Hitler: Okay then, but it’s not exactly an interesting story. “My entire schooling was 5 years of primary school and 4 years of secondary school”(pg 35 source 4). My grades were average, with a few bad grades (at mainly writing) but I was excelling in gymnastics and freehand drawing. (pg 34 source 2)
Interviewer: So you were good at gymnastics eh' This means you were physically fit, right'
Hitler: Yes, and because of this, when I decided to participate in the Great War, I was assigned to be a messenger. I was often described as ‘always ready to carry through messages in the most difficult positions and at great risk to his life.’ I was also rewarded the Iron Cross (second class) for my actions in the war. (pg 35 source 5)
Interviewer: That there sounds pretty amazing and courageous. Now, what was it that made you become anti-Semitist and bring rise to the NAZI party'
Hitler: Well, in school, our teachers taught us to hate the ‘Juden’, or Jews. The teacher would separate the class into two groups – one with Jews, the other with Germans. The teacher would then tell us to note any distinctive features a Jew had to tell them apart from the rest of humanity. (pg 79 source 5) Also, throughout classes, the teacher would teach us all the things that made Jews so hated. Through techniques such as these, I began to hate Jews and blamed them for everything including our defeat in the battlefield. All Jews are communists and cannot be trusted. I created the Nazi party in hopes of creating a better place for us Germans. It was all because of the Treaty of Versailles, that we are in this mess and the Jews backstabbed us which means we have to pay them back in full. Germany cannot be perfect with non-German people! All those who have immigrated to Germany since 1914 needs to be expelled. (pg 37 source 2) All those sinners e.g. Jews, gypsies and homosexuals need to be punished with their lives as their forfeit. By establishing the Nazi Party, an ideal Germany can be within one’s grasp.
Interviewer: Some say that you did the impossible and destroyed the democratic system quickly and completely. What do you have to say about this'
Hitler: Well, as I said before, Germany must be made into a perfect world for us Germans. Who better to see this to the end than yours truly'
Interviewer: I understand that you feel this way, however, there are those who call you a ‘dictator’. There is of course negativity in this. Do you agree with the term used to describe you'
Hitler: Ahh, now that’s an interesting title. However, I was aided into becoming so. The Reichstag gave me the power to create laws without its consent. All I did was use this privilege to its fullest and outlawed any opposition. The next step was to become in control of every party and body in Germany. My reasoning in doing so was so I, and only I, would be able to revive Germany. No one else should be able to do so. I am the President. I am the Chancellor. I am the Fuhrer and I am Democracy. (pg 57)
Interviewer: You went to prison, right' What was it like in such a dirty, dingy place for such a man as you'
Hitler: Well, I believe that was in 1924 and I got to have a very nicely furnished room. I was granted many privileges over the rest of the inmates. I was allowed to wear my own clothes rather than the unfashionable jumpsuits. I was also allowed unlimited visitors and mail every day. In that very room, I had the chance to write my book, ‘Mein Kampf’. Spending time in this prison gave me plenty of time to think over what went wrong and why I was thrown into here in the first place. I thought, ‘from now on, when I resume work, it will be necessary to pursue a new policy – instead of working to achieve power by an armed coup, we shall have to hold our noses and enter the Reichstag.’ (pg 40 source 2)
Interviewer: I hear that you invented something called the ‘lightning war’. Would you mind telling us a bit about it'
Hitler: Well, I won’t go into detail of how it is carried out, however I can describe to you how effective it is. We call it the ‘Blitzkrieg’. It is an offensive tactic which involves bombing and sending in our mobile troops straight after. Our invasion of Poland in 1939 was fast and deadly. We defeated their army in just about a week by using this tactic.
Interviewer: There are unconfirmed rumours that are going around that you are intending on declaring war against the United States. Is that true'
Hitler: Well, I will confirm those rumours and the way I will do this is by invading those who have put us into this mess in the first place and also by exterminating the Jews, or what I like to call it, the ‘Final Solution of the Jewish Question.’
Interviewer: That’s about all the time we have for you right now. Anything else you want to say'
Hitler: All I can say is that we will come home victorious and we will have the perfect Germany that we all dream of. We will defy those who have put us into this mess in the first place and we will exact our revenge onto them. No one will get in my way.
