The Crisis on the Slavery in the Americas Millions of African Americans Under Slavery Stop this Madness Now Ever since the Native Americans, which were used as workers, died of disease, the colonists decided to use Africans Americans to replace them. The colonists decided to do this because the African Americans were already immune to the diseases that the Europeans carried. Because of this, millions of African Americans were shipped to the Americas. All of the slaves had to endure a ship route called the Middle Passage. The slaves were shipped to different countries, North America, South America, Africa, and Europe. Slavery in America began because the North American colony of Jamestown, Virginia needed aid in the production of such lucrative crops as tobacco in 1619. Throughout America, slavery was being practiced by the colonies in the 17th and 18th century. The slaves helped build the economic foundations of the Image of Middle Passage new nation. There was a debate over slavery that caused the nation to tear apart in the American Civil War. Because the Union won, it freed the nation’s 4 million slaves. These events caused the Reconstruction to the civil rights movement in 1865. The Missouri Compromise forbids slavery in the Louisiana territory north of Missouri's Southern border. Under its terms, Maine is admitted to the Union as a free state and Missouri as a slave state in 1820. In 1829, David Walker of Massachusetts publishes his book about the condemnation of slavery. New York City hosts the first National Anti-Slavery Society Convention in 1837. Over the years, the people in the North were trying to get rid of slavery, while the people in the south were trying to keep it. Anti-slavery groups organize the Free Soil Party, a group opposed to the westward expansion of slavery from which the Free and Slave States Map Republican Party will later be born in 1846. As you can see, as time progresses slavery is becoming more and more unpopular in the nation. In 1850, The Compromise of 1850 admits California to the Union as a free state, allows the slave states of New Mexico and Utah to be decided by popular sovereignty, and bans slave trade in D.C. At this point, there are only a few states that don’t oppose slavery and slave trade has almost completely halted. Slavery particularly began because of a shortage of workers. They were needed in cotton and tobacco plantations. For these reasons, many events have occurred throughout the nation. Slaves were usually treated terribly, but some were treated well because there slaveholders didn’t want them to die, so he wouldn’t have to buy more. In 1865, the 13 amendment was added to the Constitution. This abolished slavery throughout the Image of Constitution Nation.
