Ares
While researching Ares, I have discovered so many differences and similarities between how we thought then and how we think now. Ares is best known as the ggGod of wWar and the God, of aAagriculture, and fFfertility. His importance to Greek mythology is to resolve conflict with bravery and courage. Ares stood for something great. howeverHhowever,; he always had a different point of view and a different way of handling things from the other eleven gods.
All ancient myths have a couple similaritiesof things in common.. One of them would be teaching us a moral value about real life. Others Another similarity is that the stories are would be thetypes of folklore, which areis a traditional stories being passed down through the a culture. and because They areit is delivered through word of mouth so having the same stories many be told in a different ways. They even have the same people type of characters, except with different names.
All cultures have their own way of presenting their own traditional myths. One of the differences would be the type of perception of the human qualities of each godand translation of thelanguage the name is in. The Greeks thought of Ares as having a huge ego and only about destruction, but were as the Romans thought of Mars as a builder and protector. Additionally, Even the value that the myth is teaching isvalues that the myths are teaching are different, sometimes ifeven although the stories are y it is the same. Most cultures even have their own version of own myths to fit their cultural history, beliefs, norms and values.
In Greek mythology, Ares is known as one of the 12 Olympiads gods that lived on Mount Olympus and is believed to be as . Ares is also the son of Hera and Zeus, but no one really knows if Zeus really is his dad. He is named as the Greek and Roman God of War and the Roman God of agriculture and fertility. He is was also rumored to be one of the lovers of Aphrodite, the goddess of love. In Roman mMythology, Ares lived in which we call present day Italy today, and he was known by the name Mars. His owever the impact on our society is the calendar in which Mars is honored as the third day of the week, Tuesday (pronounced Martedi in Italian), and the third mMonth of year, March. Moreover, the greatest honor as being the third planet from the sun. Mars was the son of Juno alone. Jupiter had usurped the mother's function when he gave birth to Minerva directly from his forehead (or mind); to restore the balance, Juno sought the advice of the goddess Flora on how to do the same. Flora obtained a magic flower (Latin flos, plural flores, a masculine word) and tested it on a heifer who became fecund at once. She then plucked a flower ritually using her thumb, touched Juno's belly, and impregnated her. Juno withdrew to Thrace and the shore of Marmara for the birth In the earliest Roman calendar, March was the first month, and the god would have been born with the new year and in October, which began and ended the season for military campaigning and farming.
He is best known from the part he played in Homers depiction and the first written account of the Trojan War. From the facts gathered from various folklore accounts of the Trojan War, Ares fought in the war, then called the Battle of the Trojans, along with the Trojans instead of the Greeks because of his love for Aphrodite. The Trojan War is best known for the Trojan Horse. He fought beside the Trojans until he was injured by Athena who threw a boulder at him for his dishonesty. As soon as Ares was injured and fled from the war, the Trojans backed downretreated.
People have always had a different descriptions of how Ares looked. Most people have always shown Ares as a muscular god. Some people show Ares nude, some show him armored, and some even show him as a bearded god. From the statues that were built to honor and worship Ares, they show how Ares looked, he wouldas always looking determined in thewith a serious expression face.
No one knows where exactly Ares lived at, only where they could hypothesis. Some say he lived with the rest of the gods in Mount Olympus. Others say he lived in Ancient Sparta which is now Northern Greece.
Because Ares is the god of war, he was thought to be is able to resolve a conflict between two parties. In addition, Hhe is also thought to be able to control how the war or battle goes. Also, Hhe also knows both how to peacefully resolve conflict or to the contrarydo it end it with courage and bravery.
Ares has many strengths and weaknesses. Some of his strengthens would include immortality, determination for war, bravery and courage. I would be able to prove this because he would always go out strong and when he had to fight, it was because he wanted everyone to be on the same page. Even though he had some possessed great strength, he also had ansome very weaknesses equally incredibleimportant weaknesses. One of them the weaknesses would be his love for Aphrodite, which was something that became a distraction to him during Bbattle of the Trojans.
Ares is considered to be a mythological figure because of who he is and what he does. Some of the reasons behind this is that not only is he a god but he is also immoral. What also makes him a mythological figure is that he has mythical powers.
From facts that I have found, even though Ares seemed cruel at some points, he would always have ahad a soft spot for his kidschildren. At some points he was hot tempered when it came to many things, such as getting embarrassed by one of Aphrodite's husbands or getting hit with a boulder by Athena.
Where is your conclusion'Ares had some good and some bad characteristics.
