Chivalry is dead Madame chair person. Judges, my esteemed opponent and members of the class. I am here today to reassure you that chivalry is not dead, infact it is far from it. Wickipedia the online encyclopedia describes “Chivalry[1] is a term related to the medieval institution of knighthood. It is usually associated with ideals of knightly virtues, honor and courtly love. The word is derived from the French word chevalier, indicating one who rides a horse” In the todays world it is easy to undermind the presence of chivalrous behavior with hi speed internet and mobile calls. Chivalrous deeds are not noticed but are not dead either, doors are still being opened, chairs are still being pulled. Men are still there to adhere to the demands and needs of women. But what is the reason for the presence, if it isn’t being noticed or appreciated. Like many, women never realize the presence of virtues only the lack of. Leaving the question is chivalry dead or is it shrouded by an overly persistent desire of social, spiritual and economic dominance' In a world where feminism is a pertinent act, where equal rights are being asked for by women I ask is chivalry dead or was it killed' No longer are women willing to let men do. Men have been continually told and showed that women are capable of doing everything men can. With that instilled in the mind of women,men are no longer able to be chivalrous in fear of rejection and there is really no need to Pia de Solenni put it much more eloquently in the current issue of the National Review: “Women have forfeited control of their destinies…they´ve set the moral bar so low that men don´t need to rise to the challenge of being good men. They don´t have to because women don´t demand it.” [p.52] . With women head strong, and considering themselves independent the concept of the one man army is being replaced by the one woman army with chivalary as the trump card. The need to be pampered and exalted has always been a trait found in women, and chivalary has always been there to coincide with it. Men are genetically built to feel needed and represent their masculinity whether its for the same or opposite sex, how could chivalary be dead when it is part of our very fiber of living' How could chivalary be by dead when it was justly portrayed today when my opponent was asked to have the first word, coincidence or second nature I leave u to be the judge of that. Countless films have based the screenplay on the courage of men “ the damlze in distress scene,” if chivalry is dead, then where was that idea conceptualized' Like am sure my opponent would tell u in the mind of man and that imagining and doing are not the same but I say to u madam chairperson didn’t we imagine to land on the moon if a thought could land us on the moon I find it rather hard to believe that a thought wouldn’t be able to aid in the opening of a door. Women ask for equal rights but want chivalary to be part of everyday life, if chivalry isn’t dead which it isn’t that would women would be treated differently thus not agreeing to equal rights , so in reality women are asking for two totally different things, leading to the question if women are not sure about how they should be treated how can they defretiate between the presence and absence of chivalry if they can’t defrientiate between equal rights and extortion
