Martino Baltiero 3/23/2011 Informative Speech Outline Specific Purpose: To inform the audience about the Ancient Astronaut Theory and show examples to back up the ideas. Introduction I. Open with impact: Some people like to ask questions about the origins of our ancestry, and I am one of those people. II. Thesis: Scientists and theorists point out reasons as to why extraterrestrials could have had a large influence on our ancient cultures, architecture, and shaping of mankind. III. Connect with audience: You should want to know that there are people who are legitimately trying to tie together all the lose ends of our past, and many of those ends begin with the sky. IV. Preview: The Ancient Astronaut Theory is bulded around past events that suggest that certain cultures were possibly influenced by these other-worldly creatures, whom helped build structures that seem too extravagant for primitive man to have developed, and the possibility of tampering with early breeds of human. BODY: I. Which cultures show great signs of alien influence' A. In ancient Egypt, other-worldly Gods were mentioned in writings and futuristic concepts shrouded The Great Pyramid. 1. "He was depicted as sailing across the sky in a celestial barge..." ("Ra" 1) 2. The greatest mathematical expression of The Great Pyramid is Pi and Pi was not theoretically calculated until Archemedes did so sometime throughout 200 BC. (Smoller p. 2) B. Artifacts found in southern Mesopotamia, where Sumerians were said to hail from, depicted interesting beings and new ways of thinking. Transition: Now, aside from particular cultural influence, there are vast structures in which early people might have been given a little help building. II. Structures that are almost difficult to erect now were built as long as thousands of years ago without proper tools or equipment. A. It is hard to imagine how ancient humans could have managed to construct these monolithic landmarks. 1. The mind boggling Egyptian pyramids compiled of large stones with precise cuts which had to be lifted hundreds of feet with only slaves and wooden ramps and pulleys. 2. The 500+ year old Moai of Easter Island are generally 13 foot tall stone statues that have human-like faces on them. a. They are on the coastline of the island and many wonder how these 887 large stone statues found their way to their resting place. b. Each stone weighs at least 14 tons. c. Some stones are double in height and weight. 3. Though the likelihood that brute strength and boats, or glaciers and earth's natural strength moved the stones of Stonehenge, many people point out reasons as to how such large stones could have been moved from Preseli Hills of Wales to the Salisbury Plains in England. B. The alignment of certain landmarks seem to coincide with space, placed where early civilizations more than likely could not have calculated. 1. The Great Pyramids in Egypt, at the time of their construction, were perfectly aligned with the stars in Orion's belt. 2. Other astronomical similarities lie within the pyramids; The Great Pyramid is basically the only structure on Earth that faces true North, it is just 3/60th of a degree off, but when it was erected, it was most likely perfect. Transition: Since we just looked at the possibility of ancient structures being influenced by Ancient Astronauts, lets look at the possibility of ancient people being influenced. III. Scientists use clues to see if whether or not early man was contacted by "ancient astronauts", or maybe even manipulated by them. A. It is said that the Annunaki, a potential extraterrestrial race, is spoken a lot of in Sumerian writings, they may have given Sumer the jump-start it needed to make all of their innovative discoveries, and they may have molded modern human existence into what it is today. 1 . Sumerians were supposedly the first civilization to make multiple breakthroughs in human culture, many of which are ideas and inventions that are still in practice today; these include written language, the wheel, jails, schools, intricate agriculture, and basic medical techniques. 2. The interference between the Annunaki and Sumerians may have potentially led to the extreme growth of innovation such as construction, art, and religion. a. These ideals seemed to be basic or absent in early civilizations, but a giant leap in mankind came from somewhere, and perhaps this was where. B. Scientists look for the missing link in the evolutionary chain to find where the human race started, some say to look to the stars. 1. There are many ideas backed by interesting discoveries which claim that "man" as we know it might have come from genetic mutations done by the hands of ancient astronauts. 2. On the other hand, a skeleton found in Mexico in the 1930's has unique characteristics which no other human-like skull on the planet has; this skull is called "Starchild". ("Starchild Skull 2010") a. There is a more bulbous look to the skull. b. It is carbon-dated to be over 900 years old, and human skulls from over 900 years ago look almost how they do today, this one does not. c. Durable fibers are found in the skull's bone, fibers which are not seen in any other skull, in any species. CONCLUSION: I. Summarize: In an essence, ancient aliens may be the key to the mysteries of our past; scientists point out clues and evidence that support ideas such as the influence of early cultures, architecture, and the evolution of mankind. A. Cultures which show great interest in the cosmos and celestial beings make scientists wonder what happened, back in the time when they lived, that spiked their interest. B. Also, large structures that seem almost impossible for ancient civilizations to construct, were constructed, and with such accuracy and precision. C. Which brings me to my final point, was early man possibly contacted or manipulated by ancient astronauts with tools and practices which are not from this world' Theories suggest that it is quite possible. II. Close with impact: So do not be surprised if one day you go outside, and those who can answer many of Earth's oldest questions are floating in the sky right above you; whether you want to call them aliens, visitors, astronauts, or gods, they may be able to shed some light on our very detailed past.
