Analysis of Team Charter Sidney Miller Management/521 October 4, 2010 Dr. Naser Analysis of Team Charter Learning teams are a very important part of the coursework. Learning teams are assigned by the instructor and the team members come up with a team charter to describe how the team is to work together, set expectations and commitments among team members, and plan out how each individual member can work as a team. From my experience this week, team charters will play a huge role in being able to accomplish team assignments because the courses are online. It is important that every team member knows the assignment schedule, provides contact information, and actively participates in the team effort. The team charter would be important if everyone were in a classroom, but the team charter is imperative for courses online. In the analysis of the team charter, one had to consider the different assessments for each member on the team. These assessments included the Jungian 16-type personality (week 2), Do I Trust Others, and How Good Are My Listening Skills. The team member’s Jungian 16-type personality types are ESTP, ENTP, and INTJ. With two extroverted people on the team, the team will always have something to say. Even the introverted team member is very contributing to the team discussions. With the three team members, the team members should be able to discuss issues and work together to complete the assignments. The sensing team member will be making sure the tasks are done on time and the intuitive team members will be focusing on the assignment and how they can be done differently. All three team members are thinking personalities, so the team members should enjoy many opinions and not care too much how the other feels. As long as the conversations are kept respectful, this should not be an issue. Besides, lively discussion is good for a team and makes the team grow. With two perceiving and one judging, the judging team member will be starting the tasks early and pushing the judging team members to complete the assignments early. The INTJ team member wanted everything complete by Saturday. With only three team members it is hard to have a wide variety of personalities. The team is heavy on the thinking side, but the team should be able to work together to accomplish the assignments. On the assessment Do I Trust Others, team member’s scores were 1, 2, and 3, and the team members seem to trust others. Team members must trust one another to complete the assignments on time. As long as everyone knows their part of the assignment and completes the assignment on time, there should not be a problem with the team working together. The team member’s How Good Are My Listening Skills scores were 38, 44, and 52. The team has two good listeners and one that needs to put some effort into listening better. That team member is me and I recognize that as a weakness on my part. This is something that I need to improve on in this class as well as work and my personal life. This should not be an issue for the team to work together. The team charter identifies each team member, their contact information, the ground rules and guidelines, expectations for time management and involvement, ensuring fair and even contribution and collaboration, and any special considerations. For everyone to work together as a team, it is important to know the information in the team charter and that each team member agrees with the contents on the team charter. The team members all have a common goal of completing the assignments on time, and the only way that will be accomplished is if everyone works together as a team. Based on the analysis of the team charter, the current team members should be able to work together to complete the assignments. With everyone communicating and working together with the help of the team charter, the team performance of the team should greatly improve.
