Analyse_the_Impact

My teaching practice, my personality and my mood all affect the people I come across every day, this includes my friends and family, my colleagues and the young people I teach. I am very aware of the impact that I have upon my own children and this has led to a realisation of how it can impact upon other especially the young people I teach on a daily basis. I live according to my beliefs, values and morals. I have a positive attitude towards my work and the people I work with including the young people I teach. I have an open mind and welcome the challenges and diversity that the young people I work with present me with. I realise that they all come with their own beliefs and attitude, and that some of them may have never known anything different, and do not even know there are other ways of thinking and behaving. I promote equality and diversity in my lessons and treat my learners fairly. As a teacher I believe it is important to allow them the space, in a controlled environment, to voice any opinions that they may have. I realise that these opinions may not always be desirable and that I may not be able to change these opinions or beliefs, but what I can do is share my own positive experiences and opinions, in turn giving them the opportunity to know that there are other ways to view and do things. I will also challenge any inappropriate comments or behaviour and make them aware of why I am challenging it, along with giving them examples of alternatives, this is so they know I am not just teaching them educationally but enriching their life skills. I want my learners to have the best experience of learning that they can have whilst they are with me. It is important that I remain professional at all times when with my learners. I am fortunate to have lived a full and varied life, not all of it good, but the bad and low times have shaped who I am today. I know that anything and everything I say can be interpreted in many ways and that young people can be easily influenced. So whilst I want to share my experiences to help them, I need to ensure that any information about my personal life does not leave me in a vulnerable position. Any anecdotes need to be appropriately recalled and relevant to the situation. I want my learners to leave being confident in themselves, with a sense of purpose and worth, knowing that with the right attitude they can achieve whatever they want to and be who they want to be. I can only do this if I have the right attitude and guide them in the right direction.
