In 2007, it was estimated that 33.2 million people lived with the disease worldwide, and that AIDS had killed an estimated 2.1 million people including 330,000 children. AIDS are spreading across the U.S. It attacks all races, and can destroy a person’s life. We can prevent the spreading of AIDS by giving out more information, and getting tested. By giving out more information about AIDS, we can prevent the passing of this disease. The lack of knowledge has always been a big problem in the U.S. What is AIDS' AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. It is caused by the H.I.V. virus. Many people think they can transmit it by just touching someone who is infected, but that is not the case. AIDS can be transmitted by having sex with an infected person, sharing a needle with someone who is infected, a baby who is born by a mother who is infected, or by drinking breast milk of an infected woman. We cannot get the disease by mosquito bites, or coughing and sneezing. It is an important factor that we learn all that we can about AIDS. Another prevention of spreading AIDS is to have safer sex guidelines. When having sexual intercourse, always make sure to be protected. Latex condoms are highly recommended and are very effective when used consistently and correctly. People who are in relationships need to ask their partner to get tested. It is only fair to both parties that they have the right information to know that it is safe to go to the next level in the relationship. W need to be more careful about who we sleep with and take the proper precautions. Be also aware of one another’s body. Make sure he or she doesn’t have an open cuts or sores. Having one sex partner and abstinence are the safest ways to prevent AIDS. Getting tested is the most important factor in AID prevention. Testing locations include health AIDS 2 Departments, doctor’s offices, hospitals, and different places that is set up for testing. There are many ways that test can be taken. There is an at home test called the Home Access Test that is FDA approved. When this test is taken, pricking of the finger is involved and the blood is dropped on the card and sent in for testing and results. There are two kinds of tests, which are anonymous, and confidential. In an anonymous test, only the person who is taking the test will only be able to get the records. In a confidential test, only the doctor will be able to have access to the records. Whichever test is suitable for he or she is the one they need to choose. Also, encourage others to get tested. The more people who get involved, the better we can come together and stop the spreading 0f AIDS.
