Abortion is a very controversial subject. An abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by the removal or expulsion from the uterus of a fetus/embryo, resulting in or caused by its death. There are many reasons why women decide to have abortions from rape and incest to just not wanting to take responsibility for your actions. I personally believe that you shouldn’t be allowed to have a legal abortion. First, what is an abortion' How many types of abortions are there' How do they take place' What happens at each stage of your pregnancy' Like stated before, and abortion is the termination of a pregnancy by removing the baby (fetus) resulting in or caused by its death. There are many methods of abortion. They have divided most of the procedures into three main categories. The first is those that invade the uterus and kill the child by instruments which enter the uterus through the cervix. This procedure is painful for the child, they are soon put out of their misery but you are cutting the child into little pieces to remove them. This is the most common method of abortion during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Anesthesia is given to the mother and her cervix is quickly dilated. A suction curette (hollow tube with a knife-edged tip) is inserted into the womb. This instrument is then connected to a vacuum machine by a transparent tube. The vacuum suction, 29 times more powerful than a household vacuum cleaner, tears the fetus and placenta into small pieces which are sucked through the tube into a bottle and discarded. This method is similar to the suction method with the added insertion of a hook shaped knife (curette) which cuts the baby into pieces. The pieces are scraped out through the cervix and discarded. Then there is those that kill the preborn child by administration of drugs and then induce labor and the delivery of a dead baby. Used after 16 weeks (four months) when enough fluid has accumulated. A long needle injects a strong salt solution through the mother's abdomen into the baby's sac. The baby swallows this fluid and is poisoned by it. It also acts as a corrosive, burning off the outer layer of skin. It normally takes somewhat over an hour for the baby to die from this. Within 24 hours, labor will usually set in and the mother will give birth to a dead or dying baby. Finally, there are those that invade the uterus by abdominal surgery. Used mainly in the last three months of pregnancy, the womb is entered by surgery through the wall of the abdomen. The technique is similar to a Caesarean delivery, except that the umbilical cord is usually cut while the baby is still in the womb, thus cutting off his oxygen supply and causing him to suffocate. There is also another form of abortion that they don’t perform as often. It is for women who are forty weeks, or about to deliver. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head. The abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the skull. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child's brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed. These are all very painful for your baby. What about pro choice' And the fact that a woman has a right to decide what she does with her body, to her baby' Abortion not only affects you. You have taken a human life; your baby could’ve been out first woman president, a famous singer, or even a doctor who comes up with the cure to cancer. It is still killing an innocent child. You are taking a human life. There are approximately 3,700 abortions per day. Eighty-seven percent of all abortions are from Christians. One percent is from rape or incest. And a gruesome ninety- three percent of all abortions are from women who are inconvenienced or they do not want a baby. Ninety- three percent of 3,700 is 3,441. Everyday 3,441 people are being killed because people don’t want to take responsibility for their actions. That is a large amount; it is disgusting how many babies are being killed each day. As a Christian, I do not believe in abortions. In the Bible, it says” I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born, I set you apart.”(Jeremiah 1:5) This has great meaning; god had a plan for each baby being killed according to their mother’s wishes. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself after I consented to stopping my child’s beating heart. I would live with that on my mind every day. Knowing that I had committed a sin, it is murder. If god did not want that child on this earth, he would not have been put here in the first place. Over six million Jewish people were killed in the Holocaust, and that was horrible. Over forty-eight million babies have been killed in the United States of America alone, and no one says anything. No matter what anyone says, abortion is still murder. You are still ending a life that hasn’t even had a chance. You are still stopping a heart from beating.
