The dark night was slowly crawling by and dawn was approaching. Then, the sun appeared in all its radiance and splendour. A new day was born. For the first time in my life, I was carried away when the permission from both of my parents of going to my uncle’s village house in Kuala Terengganu came into my thought. I was so eager to pack all my clothes and also my new bought of fishing rods as I had been waiting for quite a long time to do fishing together with my close cousin, Azrul, at his village. I was absolutely sad because my parents could not accompany me to go there. So, they had unanimously agreed to send me to the nearest bus station to reach the village.
I felt like butterfly in my stomach as I had to board and travel alone in the bus. It was my first journey in a bus and I felt very lonely. Nobody of the passengers I knew. I just only stared at all of them and finally, I could make a friend named Joseph. He also insisted to go to the same destination just like me. We travelled in the same express bus at about two hours and we often talked about our purpose of going to the fishing village. He told me that he was going to visit both of his loving grandparents whom they are the villagers there. I also told him about my point which was to visit my uncle. Finally, we managed to arrive at our destination.
At the village, the hills stood out in the distance against the colourless blue sky. My uncle’s picturesque village is nestled amidst lush green forests and verdant fields. It had been a long, long time since my last visit here. It was almost a year, I think so. As I approached to the fishing village, the wooden houses of zinc and thatched roofs came into my sight. All the village houses were huddled together behind a barbed-wire fence. So did with my uncle’s house. I could see the sun high up in the sky. Village houses baked under the scorching sun in the afternoon. First of all, I went fishing with my cousin, Azrul. Beyond the village was a river, meandering through the green forests and hills. I enjoyed myself very much there. Out of the blue, I managed to catch a big fish. We got a great deal as we finally could catch a bundle of fish. Then, I asked my appealing aunt to cook a scrumptious lunch on that day. I also followed my uncle to sell the remaining fish at the market nearby. He sold with reasonable prices and many of the villagers could afford it.
Besides, I asked my cousin to go along with me to the beach. The shimmering blue sea extended throughout the coastline. I could see a lone fisherman was casting his net into the calm sea. Small boats, with their sails billowing in the wind, could also be seen in the distance. After that, I collected some sea shells to decorate beautifully my sandcastle which was built by us on the white sandy beach. In the late part of the afternoon, the beach was swarmed with picnickers. I really had a terrific time swimming in the cool, crystal, clear water. The picnickers also enjoyed themselves swimming in the sea. Parts of them were snorkelling and scuba diving to see the live chorals which lied on the sea bed. Then, we made our move to my uncle’s house after tired strolling by the shore.
On the next day, I helped my auntie to dry fish under the heat of blazing sun. It was also made profit if selling them in the market. Azrul and I decided to have a walk in the village. During the walking, I could see village women, balancing small rattan baskets on their heads, walked in a single file across the narrow roads. Suddenly, I saw a herd of buffaloes rolling in the mud. I have never see such that thing in the city. From behind the closed doors of village houses, the clattered of pots and pans could be heard, as busy housewives prepared lunch. After had an hour of ambling, we arrived at home.
Finally, my holiday came to an end. I was very sad to leave the fishing village. I had only a short time spending my splendid holiday there. Tears were rolling upon my cheeks when I hugged both of my uncle and aunt and also my dearest cousin, Azrul. I will never forget that memorable experience. Spending holiday at a fishing village was more exciting than everything that I have done in my meaning life. It was so amazing holiday!!
