A Simple Idea One should be lugubrious when made aware of the toils and hardships of the world in which we all live. Financial crisis to follow poverty, war to follow instability, profit to follow death; all such worriment things seeming to end in a teetering peace, only to be tipped into unrest once again. Alas, the one commonality in each and every one of these problems is the people, politics and religion of the mid-eastern culture. When a perceived insignificant nation such as Kuwait falls under duress, the “life-blood of modern civilization” is suddenly at stake, and prices all over the world rocket to unbelievable and ridiculous heights! The ramification of such rocketing causes all other prices to begin resembling mountainous cliffs and infinitesimal vertical lines on a graphical model. Do the leaders of the world intend to continue presenting failed and historically ineffective treaties, injunctions and sanctions' I think that it is agreed by all the citizens of the world that past solutions to the “Mideast problem” are ineffective, and we need a revitalized policy that won’t produce minute and temporary changes, but an all-encompassing final solution that the results thereof are impervious to reversal and are beneficial to all. No more UN injunctions on certain economic and military assets, which seem to only strengthen their resolve and further enrage them; no more “peace talks” where one of us mediates between Israel and Palestine or Iraq and Iran, which only ends and begins and ends again; and especially no more sending our loved ones into their land to help them out from oppression, only for them to blow themselves up while killing as many of us as they can in the process. Enough is enough! There is a simple solution to this entire debacle. Remove them from the daily dealings of the rest of the world. Silence their cries of hatred and declarations of holy war. Take direct control of the reserves of “life-blood” so essential to their power and our prosperity. The western powers are more than capable of carrying out this decency. The United States, for instance, invaded Iraq and sacked its capital in less than three weeks, having crossed more than 300 miles, making that operation one of the fastest in history. How much faster and less costly could an air attack meant to expunge the whole countryside be' Once this has been done, we would have direct control over the reserves, therefore direct control of the prosperity of our way of life. The same solution could be used with the United States’ neighbor to the south, which would save potentially billions of dollars in border security. With the increased world security, defense could be cut without a grave risk to the innocent people, saving potentially trillions, thus eliminating the vast majority of problems for the world. Alas, there is only this one solution, and it cannot be protracted, for the longer the world percolates in disaster, the harder it will be to arrive at that peace that so many throughout history have endeavored, but failed to realize. Will this be the time' Will we be the ones' My only caution is that my trusting of language to petition this thoroughgoing idea to the people will be construed and misinterpreted for their own advancement.
