Everyone knows each other, everyone respects each other, until someone does wrong. They are hated and rejected from their life styles. Hester is labeled with a scarlet letter “A” standing for Adultery. Adultery was Hester’s crime. More than a crime a sin. In the towns peoples eyes it’s a crime, and she is rejected from the town. Out of this crime, comes a child, a bastard. The man will stay anonymous to the town to keep his good reputation and good name in the town, and not to be known as another adulterer.
