Sophocles Formula
Around 400 B.C. an epic play was created by a Greek playwright named Sophocles, that play known as Oedipus Rex, or Oedipus the King has set the standard for the formula of a Tragedy. Unfortunately, most people today are unable to see the play in real time; they have only read the lines from the play, usually in form of a short story. By just putting those words into a book, it is hard to grasp the emotional feelings emitting from the characters. But, reading the play for yourself or in a group is a different experience that cannot be described, imagination and creativity takes place when you read. By either reading or watching Sophocles play Oedipus Rex you experience the classic illustration of a tragedy.
Inside a book it is easier for one to notice the references to sight and blindness. However, it is hard to believe that sight and blindness really are metaphors at all. In the movie, the characters speak and they show the clear images of the comparison between light and darkness. It is by noticing these things that one realizes that light versus darkness are a common metaphor for knowledge versus ignorance. I see the
