And Then They Came For Me From the opening line, this play captivated my attention. I love any and all things that deal with World War II, so I felt like this play would be right up my alley. As the performance went on, I became totally immersed in the actors words and movements. I felt that the inclusion of live acting coupled with real video footage was an effective technique, and made the actors performances seem that much better. The first character that came onstage was a member of the Hitler Youth Group. His words were powerful and confident, and you could tell exactly how he was feeling. His body was stiff and rigid, like a soldier’s would be. When he spoke, I could tell that his center of energy wasn’t low at all, rather, it was up high and seemed to make him look more animated. When he said “Heil Hitler!” to supplement his speech, I felt it. As the play progressed, and the youth began to see what Hitler and the Nazi’s were really doing, his morale began to decrease. His words weren’t as powerful, his posture wasn’t as rigid, and his center of energy seemed to sink lower and lower. I especially liked then, they, came, me, energy, body, play, felt, language, voice, eva’s, lower, live, hitler, high, character, center, youth, video, sense, seemed, mother, make, footage, camp, both, world, words, told, time, tell, started, sink, showed, real, progressed, parents, out, much, morale
