TCP IP Fixes TCP/ IP is the main protocol of the Internet, the backbone so to speak. It also has heavy use in WAN's. And IP doesn't care about the content or number of packets to be sent. Unlike other protocols TCP/ IP needs to be configured. The configuration may be done automatically, through a DHCP server, or manually. But since it was designed to be indestructible, after you get passed the initial install, it should run for quite awhile without much trouble.
