Technology Is Important The idea that technology directs the lives of all Americans is what Neil Postman claims in his essay “Virtual Students, Digital Classrooms.” He says that technology uses us, so we need to learn how to use technology. However, because we depend on technology, it is essential to our daily lives. Therefore, technology is much more important than Postman gives it credit for being. Postman gives his readers the idea that if a child is not old enough to understand the real world and the parents put their child in front of the computer, they will get farther away from the real world. This could only happen if people let their children sit in front of the computer day and night during all of their spare time. Otherwise, children can use computers to benefit themselves. The internet is part of technology that is still new and growing quickly. Web sites are being made that can help children with their homework and studying.
