UFO Sightings Was that merely a shooting star streaking across the night sky, or was it a glimpse of some sort of alien aircraft' I believe that we are not the only intelligent life forms that exist in this vast universe, and it is my opinion that the earth has been visited by extraterrestrial beings. While many photographs and sightings of flying saucers have been proven to be hoaxes, weather balloons, or ordinary planes, there also have been hundreds that have been unexplained. A series of sightings in the Hudson Valley of NY in 1984 has yet to be explained satisfactorily. There were thousands of reports, mostly nocturnal, of large, silent, hovering objects with series of rotating lights. Reports came from many highly credible individuals, including meteorologists, news reporters, and police chiefs. A “Planes in formation” theory is still in contention because of videos taken by an area resident of both the objects and a formation of planes that show distinct differences. There are still intermittent sightings in this area to this day. Another infamous event took place on a ranch outside of Corona, New Mexico in July 1947.
