Defense Defense Speech Have you ever played in an unorganized football game just to have fun with your friends' Well…I’m going to talk about three major defense formations in an organized 8-man football game. On each formation, I will tell you what the jobs are of each of the front linemen. The first defensive formation I will talk about is called 32-Regular. As you can see there three defensive linemen in this formation. The nose guards, (which is this one) job is fairly easy he just mainly rushes into the backfield trying to get to the person with the ball. He lines head up with the offensive center. The defensive ends (which is these ones) are a little different. These people line up on the outside of the offensive end. The number one job of this position is to hit the offensive end to the inside to the guard, then they are to not let anyone on the outside of him. If the quarterback on offense drops back to pass the ball down the field, the ends rush him trying to tackle him, which is called a sack.
