The Importance Of Gymnastics The Importance of Gymnastics Clubs, societies and teams are plentiful at Lake Mary High School. Students have numerous options to get involved in school. Although this is true, a gymnastics team is not offered. Because of good sportsmanship, exercise, and drug use prevention a gymnastics team should be incorporated into Lake Mary’s curriculum. Admittedly, gymnastics can be confused with dance teams but gymnastics teaches good sportsmanship. In gymnastics competitors participate in four different events. Each participant is judged individually instead of as a team. If a teammate does better than the rest, the team must support their champion. They may be jealous and inverted but pride will overrule those emotions knowing that a winner will come back to school. These are a few examples of good sportsmanship learned from gymnastics. It is true that gymnastics teaches good sportsmanship but it also promotes exercise. The skills necessary for gymnastics require upper body strength. Some workouts that held build strength are muscle toning, aerobics, cardiovascular training and Pilates.
