Socialization Socialization Family make up, American families are usually comprised of a mother, father, and children. Other families also include grandparents, aunts, uncles and other member of the immediate family. There are new trends in family make up, those are family’s that are comprised of two parents of the same sex, and single parent family’s both are becoming more prevalent in American culture. Family values, family values can and do vary from one family to the next. Some of the basic family values are, education, individualism, religion, and freedom. Education is highly valued in American culture; children are told when they are very young that education is the key to future success in life. Without education one could not do or have what one wants. Individualism is also taught at an early age, one as on individual can go from the bottom and rise to the top. A good example is that anyone can become president; any individual can achieve anything, if they wish. Religion in some family is a very strong value while in others it is not. In those families that do pursue religion it becomes the basis for most of there values.
