Role Of A Father What Is Your View on the Role of the Father' When I think of the roles of a father, I think of someone who is not only a provider and a protector but also someone who nurturing, loving, caring, knowledgeable, helpful, protective, a provider, a role model, and always there for me. Throughout my life, my father has protected and provided for me. My father has taken on not only the traditional protector and provider role but also the important nurturing role. I feel that him being a nurturing father has helped me grow into a nurturing and caring, confident individual and has allowed us to build a strong close father-daughter relationship. "Research indicates that a nurturing father can have a positive impact on various developmental realms for children who receive such attention: Self-esteem, cognitive functioning, social competence, perception of body image, and adolescent and adult adjustment all seem to be positively affected" (Biller, 1993; Lamb, 1981 as cited in Goodnough & Courtland P. 333). My father had to take on not just one role but two roles in my life.
