Gender Inequality Mohandas Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 at Porbandar on the north-west coast of India. He was the third son and the last of four children of well-to-do Hindu parents. The Gandhis belonged to the Modh Bania subdivision of the Vaisya caste, representing the trader class in the traditional Hindu caste system and were originally grocers. Gandhi says, “But one thing took deep root in gandhi, school, british, one, began, years, after, said, india, independence, first, caste, south, new, indians, english, children, world, wife, while, salt, rajkot, prime, minister, later, hindu, high, good, gandhi’s, father, country, because, africa, about, work, violence, train, time, teacher, taught, studies, struggle, same, protest, porbandar, poor, over, out, never, nehru
