Thomas Aquinas Thomas Aquinas took a religious approach to philosophy and the existence of god. Thomas Aquinas devised five arguments for the existence of god. His arguments included: Motion, Cause, Necessity, Degree, and Design. The second way, cause, is an Aristotelian concept. Cause will be the focus of this paper. Cause is based on the cosmological argument. Cosmological argument originates from kosmos, meaning, world or universe. Cosmological argument states that it is impossible for anything to be the complete and sufficient source in its own existence. Cause makes all the sense in the world. How could I exist before I existed' I’m here because my mother and father were here before me. My parents are here because my grandparents made that possible. However, there is one set of parents that had no parents. In the Bible, this is Adam and Eve. According to the Bible not even they were part of their own existence.
