Exercise Addiction In Teens Exercise Addiction in Teens Statement of the Problem: Teenagers addicted to exercise will workout in spite of personal illness, injury, or even threatening weather conditions like thunderstorms and freezing weather. This compulsive activity is harmful to a teen’s health and well being which institutes a social problem. Purpose for Studying the Problem: Studying exercise addiction will better help society’s knowledge and awareness of this social problem. Being aware of this addiction can help parents be more cautious of their teenager’s exercise activities; nevertheless, help them identify if there is an addiction. Also, a teen who feels they might have an obsession with exercise can use this social research to define within them if there is actually an addiction present. Description of the Social Problem: A. The Scope and Diversity of the Problem: Exercise addiction can have both positive and negative aspects, but one must realize that the negative side’s weight will always be greater than the positive’s side. A well known theory by Dr. William G. Lasser from 1976, describes this greatly. He states that “exercise addiction is not to be confused with positive addiction.” Positive addiction is best defined by stating that one has the mind power to exercise, addiction, problem, teens, social, help, teen, because, addicted, feel, people, even, school, family, bodies, work, says, positive, perfect, might, better, professional, problems, look, friends, compulsive, workout, way, society, out, important, exercisers, depressed, culture, being
