Sex Sex refers to the biological and the anatomical difference between females and males. Gender refers to the culturally and socially constructed differences between females and males found in the meanings, beliefs, and practices associated with male and female. “Femininity” and masculinity” it is important to distinguish between the two because they are very different and people seem to use them “interchangeably”. In order to properly distinguish between these two terms society need to know exactly what they represent and their implications.
