Crack Vs. Cocaine Laws Opinion The laws of crack cocaine and powder cocaine are not the same even though technically it is the same drug. There has been a lot of controversy about the results in which this difference has been achieving whether it was meant or not. Statistics have shown that the harsher sentencing for crack cocaine has adversely effected black male cocaine offenders. Many people have speculated that this is a politically intended and possibly racial biased program. They say that the reason why powder cocaine has lesser penalties is because more upper class and white collar or mostly whites are the offenders. An easy solution to this problem would be the complete legalization of drugs.
