Alcohol Alcohol in College and its Effects New college freshmen are introduced to a new world when they go off to college, filled with freedoms and new opportunities that entice them and force them to make many decisions that can influence them in many different ways. One of those decisions is whether they should partake in this illegal event. Have you ever noticed how hard it is to find a college student that doesn’t drink' This statement holds true because the pressure on a single person to drink is so high do to their peers around them. This leads to the person usually “folding” or giving into the pressure and taking part in the goings-on. Drinking in college usually leads to negative events, and is the sole reason why a person partakes in these “unwanted actions.” These harmful actions consist of date rape or agreeing to participate in, usually, unwanted sexual activity, committing illegal actions, and/or becoming extremely sick due to drinking too much in a short period of time (binge drinking).
