Why We Communicate As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words, but now my objective is to show how one word can be interpreted in a thousand different ways. The assignment was given to us to go out and get deep, down, and personal with five people to whom were of our closest and most comfortable friends or family and get their meanings of the assigned words. The words that we were given to use were as follows: sexy, love, death, and porno. After carefully examining these words, I knew I really had to be comfortable to go up to these people and ask them what the words meant to them. I knew I also had to be prepared to hear how they might respond. Now it was time to select the five people. At first I thought that I was going to ask my mom and dad, two girl friends, and one boy friend, but that was soon to change. After the first person I asked which was one of my closest girl friends, I realized the things that could be said to these and knew that I definitely did not want to hear what my mom or love, word, sexy, said, one, death, porno, people, very, knew, it’s, about, time, thing, now, friends, last, girl, best, words, much, meant, life, just, going, someone, person, next, first, father, family, because, asked, sad, response, out
