Male Revoit Since the Declaration of Independence, America became known as the land of the free. From this important document, America was the first to allow its citizens to obtain the freedom of speech, press, assembly and even question the methods of government. The abolitionists and women’s rights movement provide wonderful examples of these freedoms. However, who would ever imagine that men would ever revolt against their own role in society. In recent years, men has started to overcome the pressure of raising and providing a stable income for his family, better known as the breadwinning role. This male revolt not only effected women, but also the division of labor in the family and in the workplace. Even though the male revolt has been successful in a very short period of time compared to that of the abolitionists and women’s rights movement, there are still constraints in society today. Dating back even before the first men set foot in America, men has been given the role of putting food on the table for his family. Men were never officially obligated by law to provide for the family, but however society did.
