Throughout the 1980s, the most prominent form of communication was the telephone. Surprisingly, however, telephones were not as prevalent in households as one may think, but rather they were an asset afforded by the haves and coveted by the have-nots. To follow suit, and quite accordingly, computer ownership adhered to these patterns as well. Jump 10 years, lets say mid-90s, computer ownership has increased rapidly and PCs have permeated those households that didnt even own a telephone 10 years prior. Approximately two-thirds of households with PCs or WebTVs® have Internet access. This radical change was seemingly unavoidable. Society today is controlled by a global market economy that is primarily reliant on computers and the Net to communicate.
We have recently embarked on a journey into the digital age and no one can be left behind. Although we have only just commenced with our ascent into this new way of living, it is already apparent that the entire business landscape is changing, and that digital technology will soon dominate communications entirely.
