Social Issues A crime usually involves a victim, which is someone who is hurt by that crime. So a victimless crime has no victim, which means that no one should be hurt. It is true that if no one was hurt by a type of conduct, in my opinion it should not be a crime. If no one is getting hurt, then don’t mess with them. However, that is the overall question as to whether someone is truly hurt by these victimless crimes. To determine whether this type of conduct should be a crime, one must first determine whether anyone is hurt by this type of conduct. Many people believe that there has been a decline in the moral course of our society. It is now a lot easier to see nudity; kids can even see nudity now on regular cable television. Also now with a computer with internet access in almost every home, people are “just a click away” from seeing any and everything pornography has to offer. And that includes young kids, our little brother and sisters and our kids. So as for pornography, yes there is a victim. Kids are victims as they see this pornographic material, which dilutes their minds.
