Everyone from hardened serial killers to small scale embezzlers are thrown in to fend for themselves. The reasons for imprisonment vary as widely as the age of the offenders. Thus, younger prisoner, put in for less serious crimes, are more valuable to attack than the older, more manipulative ones. Story written by the Washington Times in such was a case for a sixteen – year old Rodney Hulin. He was sentenced to eight years in an adult prison for setting a dumpster on fire in his neighborhood. He was repeatedly beaten and raped. Despite his pleas for help, no one in authority intervended to help him.
