Mental Illness In Correctional Facilities Available information indicates that a considerable and growing number of inmates require mental health treatment. People can develop problems with their mood, thinking, or ways of interacting when living in stressful and hostile settings such as jails or prisons. He preferred to be alone and often stared out into space, and as time went on he became more irritable warning officers and inmates to leave him alone.
