Cultural Characteristics What are my family values and how do I fit into my family' My name is Josh Thayer; I am the first born into my family and have one other brother, who is four years behind me. I grew up in a small town twenty miles away, in a small cluster of houses in what today is called a sub-division. In today’s society my parents and what they believe might be considered “old school” beliefs and traditions. How am I supposed to act and what my roles in the family are, are just some of the things that will be talked about. Time is very important to my family and particular my father. He would turn all the clocks five minutes ahead so that there was no way that you would be late. He believed that if you said a specific time it was your responsibility to make it there on time. My family perceives time as being very important in our lives. They don’t live their lives by the minute, but are always looking a planning ahead. My personal distance usually is determined by the person talking to me. If my parents parents, family, time, go, always, think, things, school, just, hard, don’t, college, work, way, talking, should, same, people, out, mom, girls, dad, considered, church, brother, boys, between, believed, because, about, when, my, younger, week, very
