International Terrorism And Its Importance To Me International Terrorism: and Its Importance to Me In the wake of the terrorist activities of the last couple years, I have realized that as an American, I am not as safe as those who came before me, or as safe as those felt who came before me. Now knowing that neither my government nor I can ensure that other Americans will not be taken hostage by an extremist organization or murdered in the name of an extreme cause leaves me unsteady at times. Realizing that the United States is not the isolated power it had once been can send shivers down the spine of the most passionate American Joe. Being part of only the second generation that experienced acts of terrorism by a foreign nation on American soil had me nervous at first. Knowing that now I will be the legal age of 18 soon, and eligible for the military draft, once had me fearful. We all had that American ignorance, the thoughts that everything happened over there. We turned out backs to the thought that some people just do not like America, and that they could never get to us. It is true, ignorance is bliss.
