Drunk driving is a very sensitive and very serious topic in today’s society. There are car accidents every day that take lives and can be avoided very easily. In the year 2000 alone, and average of just over 45 people a day die from accidents where a drunken diver was at fault. Drunk driving is very hypersensitive topic because everyone knows how easily this can be avoided. Regardless, people still drink and still find the need to drive, putting many drivers and passengers at risk. Although the percent of people killed in drunk driver related accident compared to the number of killed in general car accidents has gone down, it is still to much fully knowing that these are avoidable deaths. In 1984, an astounding 57.3 percent of all car accidents were drunk driver related. More than half of all car related accidents happened because someone felt the need to drive when they shouldn’t have.
