Each year, an estimated 2 million to 4 million women in the United States are abused by their male partners. One very important reason why it is so hard to find out how many gay men are battered by their mates is that the gay community would rather not know. In fact, several recent studies suggest that same-sex domestic violence may be occurring at a similar rate, approximately one-third of all relationships, as heterosexual domestic violence.
