The Tragedy Of Romeo And Juliet Vs. Modern Movie Romeo And Juliet Classical plays are most beneficial to the minds of modern time individuals. When a person reads a play or is fortunate enough to see a remake of a play exactly as it was originally written, the memory stays within them for eternity. William Shakespeare was a great playwright. He understood human nature very well and his choice of words and his poetry has been admired in every generation. Shakespeare wrote many magnificent tragedies, however, some are known more than others. Shakespeare wrote a play sometime between 1594 and 1596 given the name, The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, known all over the world, which has been remade by director Baz Luhrmann in a modern time movie. This movie, however, is not beneficial to the understanding of the drama. The reasons I wish to share include, the modern objects in the movie off-set the mood of the classic play, the modern version does not give the full effect of the original classic, and the movie strays from the original play which would cause confusion.
