Shakespeare’s Hopes In Romeo and Juliet a lot of hope and dissapointment is used to give the reader hope.. Romeo and Juliet is a tragic story, Shakespeare gives us hope that it will end happily ever after. The sources of these hopes are the friar, the reality of Romeo’s and Juliet’s love and Juliet’s stoicism Friar Laurence is a real friend to both Romeo and Juliet and he gives us hope. First he helps Romeo survive his suicidal emotions. When Romeo is expelled to Mantua he goes the Friar, and he becomes suicidal. The Friar says that it is unmanly to stab himself.
