Shakespeare Dualities of Victor and his Creation "One of the phenomena which had peculiarly attracted my attention was the structure of the human frame, and, indeed, any animal endued with life"(36). Victor's thoughts of a new species did not result in what he had expected. In Mary Shelly's novel Frankenstein, Victors craving for knowledge leads him to a creation that destroys his life. Yet, a creation that is so similar to him. Dualities that exist between Victor and the creature are monomania, acquirement of knowledge that leads to disaster, and the healing power of nature. Monomania characterizes both Victor and the creature. Victor's obsession with the creation of a new species to call his own leads him to disaster. Victor states, "Two years passed in this manner, during which I paid no visit to Geneva, but was engaged, heart and soul, in the pursuit of some discoveries which I hoped to make"(35). Victor's relationship with his family grew further and further apart directly from monomania. Conversely, led to the creation of a lonely monster full of hate and revenge.
