Julius Caesar A leader can be defined as a: person who directs a military force or unit. Brutus, a character in the play Julius Caesar, uses his leadership and patriotism to follow these criteria, which makes him the most powerful leader in the play. His respect and his honesty for his nation, his idealistic and selfless acts and his determination and over exertion define him as a leader. In the play Julius Caesar, written by: William Shakespeare, there are many arised leaders. Marcus Brutus rises above them. He is the dominant leader in the play and uses his influential attributes to gain power throughout it. As a result his leadership is shown when he kills Caesar for the good of Rome, stands as a figure of honor against Cassius, and his pride and his nobleness in himself that leads to his own death in the end. Marcus Brutus displays strict patriotism and complex nobleness. He is the only character who uses leadership for his own true pleasures or to gain more respect. Brutus killed Julius Caesar for the Roman Republic and its people. In Act II, Scene I, Brutus states “It must be by his death: and, for my part, I know brutus, caesar, leader, play, roman, marcus, julius, against, true, through, rome, respect, man, killed, kill, character, cassius, assassination, society, person, patriotism, own, one, nobleness, must, honesty, himself, gain, every, death, conspirators, aspects, acts, william, whole, whether, very, values, uphold, trusting, truly, threat, strict, statement, speak, shown, selfless, scene, roles
