Land Isopods Needs of Land Isopods (Rolie Polies) Problem: What environmental conditions do land isopods need' Purpose: The purpose of the first part of the experiment is to find out weather land isopods prefer light or dark. The purpose of the sec-ond part of the experiment is to find out if land isopods prefer dry or moist conditions. Materials: Shoebox with lid Aluminum foil Masking tape water (part A) 2 paper towels Scissors (part B) 5 land Isopods Hypothesis: (Part A) The isopods prefer the moistness and will go to the part of the paper towel that is wet. (Part B) The land isopods Prefer dark conditions and will try to find a dark place and they will go under the paper towel. Procedure (Part A) 1. Line a shoe box with aluminum foil. 2. Tape 2 paper towels side by side to the inside bottom of the shoebox. Place a strip of tape between the 2 paper towels. 3. Moisten one of the paper towels with water. 4. Place 5 isopods on the masking tape between the 2 paper towels. Place the lid on the shoebox. Caution: Handle live animals with care and respect. 5. Leave the shoebox undisturbed for 5 minutes. Make a data table. 6. After 5 minutes, remove the lid. Quickly count isopods, paper, part, towels, tape, table, data, shoebox, prefer, masking, land, half, dark, trial, results, moist, minutes, lid, conditions, steps, purpose, place, one, find, experiment, dry, between, write, undisturbed, towel, times, slide, side, row, repeat
