Human Cloning Human Cloning After hundreds of failures including several badly deformed creatures in 1997, Ian Wilmut, an embryologist, cloned a sheep name Dolly at Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, Scotland (Leone 49). The news of Dolly shocked the world and scientists all over the world begin to debate about if it is right to clone a human. According to Longman Advanced American Dictionary cloning is an exact copy of animal or a human that has the same DNA as the original animal or human, because it was produced from one cell of that animal and human. Human cloning is a controversial issue in our society. Some people think it’s ethical to have human cloning, but some people think it’s unethical. Human cloning is unethical and also human cloning produce babies, who are dysfunctional and have birth defects yet some people think human cloning can stop human genetic disease. According to Lane P. Lester, professor of Genetics at Purdue University states that, “Human cloning is a serious and frightening prospect for the future and therefore should be avoided” (Leone 31).
