The Real Eve The Real Eve Humans have lived on this planet for around 150,000 years. There are people of all different races and cultures living in every area of the world. Research shows that we can all be traced back to share a common ancestry with one female who lived in Africa around 150,000 years ago. Modern science found that we all share mitochondrial DNA with this “genetic Eve.” Mitochondrial DNA is passed on by the female; therefore our genetic lines can be traced back to this Eve. Eve lived in Africa some 150,000 years ago. Times became hard and the people were forced to move to the coast along the Red Sea. Here they lived off the harvest of the sea. 80,000 years ago the ice caps dried the land and the Red Sea got saltier and fish were harder to catch. This forced the people to leave it and move on to Yemen. Around 250 people made this hard journey. After arriving at Yemen many people left and continued on to Malaysia and then on to Australia about 70,000 years ago.
