Poison oak, a relative of poison ivy was discovered between 1799 and 1834 by David Douglas. Poison ivy, oak, and sumac plants all cause a severe skin reaction when the disfigured leaves of the plant come in contact with human skin. Brushing against an intact plant will not cause a reaction, but undamaged plants are extremely rare because the plant is so fragile. They are so fragile that even the tiny holes of chewing insects can release the oil. The result of contact with one of these plants poison, ivy, plants, plant, rash, oil, skin, urushiol, should, infected, because, over, contact, cause, water, person, one, doesn’t, come, weeks, treatment, treat, threat, take, soap, severe, reaction, life, itching, gloves, exposure, don’t, counter, body, been, avoid
